Leopards, despite being powerful nocturnal predators and great swimmers, are sadly classified as a vulnerable species and need to be protected.
Their distinctive dark spots, called rosettes because they resemble the shape of a rose, only appear around 10 days after birth. Black leopards, are commonly called black panthers.
